Repatriations
Ensure Your Loved One is Safely Home for Their Farewell.
Repatriation is the process of returning a person to their place of origin or citizenship. There are a number of statutory requirements and costs involved in repatriating someone to their homeland.
If the death occurs away from home, contact us immediately on 03 9308 2555 in order for us to make the necessary arrangements to transport your loved one/the deceased home and attend to any legal, statutory or customs requirements. We have expensive experience in repatriations.
If their wish was to be returned to their homeland for burial, we attend to the extensive process of contacting government departments for you and processing the necessary documentation on your behalf.
We also have a fully qualified embalmer on staff who can undertake any preparation or embalming required.
When someone is being repatriated overseas generally they will be embalmed unless it goes against their faith or culture.
Repatriation can be overwhelming.
Simply Beautiful Funerals recognises the difficulty families face when a loved one dies abroad. We are proficient in liaising with insurance companies and government departments on your behalf.
Listed below are guidelines to our repatriation process.
- Immediately transporting your loved one into our care.
- We sensitively consult and guide you through the entire process including available options.
- We prepare and lodge all necessary documentation for the airline, consulate and relevant government departments.
- If embalming is required,
- Transport your loved one to the airport in preparation for their flight.
- Upon arrival, we respectfully meet and greet your loved one before transporting them into our care.
EMBALMING
Excluding faith or culture practices, embalming is generally required thus a member of our staff is fully qualified embalmer to undertake the necessary preparation.
